Dieffenbach announces candidacy for re-election to the School Committee
By Jeff Dieffenbach

Wayland Town Crier Thu Feb 26, 2009

I’m writing to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Wayland School Committee.

As a town, in a climate of significant financial challenge, we nonetheless welcome the important educational opportunities ahead of us. I place high among these opportunities the continued advancement of excellent teaching, the continued recruitment of first-rate administrators, the continued evolution of strong curricular and co-curricular programs, the continued incorporation of technology, and the continued need for appropriate facilities at the High School and across the district.

I use the word "continued" with intent – the Wayland Public Schools deliver an education among the best in the state, in a state that leads the nation, and with a quality that rivals leaders on the international stage.

To this task of continual educational improvement and financial management, I bring considerable experience and expertise. Professionally, I manage sales, marketing and product budgets in educational print and technology publishing to serve educators and the children they teach. Avocationally, I have served Wayland’s schoolchildren, their families, and the town as a whole for nine years on the School Committee and five years before that on the Finance Committee.

Personally, as a parent with the perspective of children at the High School and Middle School, I love education and apply my energy and integrity in embracing and advancing the public school model.

I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, April 7. Thank you.
