The use of MCAS as a "must pass" requirement for receipt of a state approved diploma is inappropriate.
The test is solid, but should be only one part of a broader measure of a student's abilities and accomplishments. We must take care not to allow its cost in time and money to be too great a drain on scarce educational resources.
