We are writing to invite you to help make a big difference for the youth of our town. We are on the verge of launching one of the most exciting projects in the history of the town of Wayland--a turf field to be installed at Wayland High School. This new surface will allow for many sports at many age levels in town to enjoy better playing surfaces, more practice time, fewer games cancelled and a longer playing season. The project has sailed through, and been approved by, every required town department and committee and received a resounding 3-1 approval at the recent Town Meeting.

There is one last step, however. And we need your help. To date, we have raised approximately $550,000 of the required $700,000 from private donations (in addition to the $300,000 CPA money that has been approved). So, we need to raise a final $150,000 and we need to do so in the next 45 days if the field is to become a reality by next fall.

We have seen extraordinary generosity on the part of a handful of Wayland families to get to where we are today. Now we need EVERYONE in the community to step to the plate and contribute whatever they can in the next month and a half to get us over the top ! Let's show what this great town can do when it comes together.

Specifically, here is what you can do: Please sit down TODAY and write a check at the highest level you feel comfortable......we need many $250 and $500 and $1,000 checks......we also need a few $2500 and $5000 and $10,000 checks.......but checks of any and all sizes are needed and appreciated. Once you have decided on your contribution level, please send your check before January 15th (made out to "Wayland Boosters" and note "turf field" in the memo section of the check) to:

Then, if you have the time and energy, recruit one or two others to do the same thing. Please spread the word and, remember, we have only 45 days left. Otherwise, we are doomed to yet another season with no turf field for youth, adult and high school soccer, football, lacrosse and field hockey teams, and so more cancelled games and practices, and no excitement for youth teams to play on a field where families can easily and comfortably watch them!!
